Hidradenitis Suppurativa: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment

Surgical options

In severe cases, your doctor may recommend surgery to drain or remove lesions that grow deep into your skin. However, it is important to know that the disease may spread to another part of the body or come back the same after surgery.

Your doctor may recommend the following surgical options:

  • Unroofing: A procedure that cuts away the skin that covers tunnels.
  • Limited unroofing: A procedure that involves the removal of one nodule. It is also known as punch debridement.
  • Electrosurgical peeling: A procedure that removes damaged skin tissue.

Other surgical procedures recommended by experts are laser therapy and radiation.
