How and When to Get Medical Help

Lipomas are often painless, benign growths, however, this isn’t always the case. Without removing it for examination or at the very least performing a biopsy [7], it might be challenging to precisely diagnose a growth under your skin. A biopsy is a technique in which a medical expert takes a sample of tissue and sends it to a lab for analysis.
It’s possible that what appears to be a benign lipoma is actually a more dangerous growth or tumor. Whenever feasible, you should see a doctor if your growth:
- has a color change in the skin around it
- feel heated or hot
- changes in size
- changes in color
- grows harder or denser
- increased pain
