Breast Cancer Genes – What Are They, Types and More

Genetic Testing

This is mostly advised when there is a history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer. This is done after having a proper conversation with the doctor on ‘if the test is appropriate for you due to age and other factors’. This testing is just normal blood or saliva test. If taking to a doctor is not convenient, a direct-to-consumer company can also do this test. Apart from just BRCA1 and BRCA2 testing, there are other types of gene mutation testing, but it is better to talk to the doctor first. This test is not advised for children below the age of 18, because there are no preventive measures at that age.
