Lobular Carcinoma in SITU (LCIS): Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Is Lobular Carcinoma in SITU (LCIS) A Precancerous Condition?

Lobular carcinoma in SITU (LCIS) is not a pre-cancerous or a pre-cancer illness. The abnormal cells that grow in the lobules do not move to tissues around the breast region. It is important to note that LCIS makes you more prone to have breast cancer.

People often confuse ductal carcinoma in SITU (DCIS) for lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS). These two conditions are not the same. Ductal carcinoma in SITU (DCIS) occurs when strange cells appear in your breast ducts. The strange cells in the ducts are more likely to move to surrounding breast tissues than the ones in the lobules.
