Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Endobronchial ultrasound is the best choice for most mediastinal conditions. In most cases, the mediastinal lymph node locations (2, 4,7, 10, and 11) can be evaluated using an EBUS. When Endobronchial ultrasound is combined with endoscopic ultrasound, your doctor will gain access to other locations such as 7, 8 and 9. Your doctor can do these tests with or without sedation, depending on your doctor’s recommendation. They can be done in a day provided there are no problems. Experts say it is safer than other tests such as mediastinoscopy.
Other diagnostic procedures include
- Bronchoscopy
- Esophagoscopy
