Types of lumps you may feel in your breast

There are several other causes of breast lumps. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) [4] the two most common are fibrocystic breast disease and cysts.
Fibrocystic breast disease is common among premenopausal women. It can cause fibrous lumps [5] and cysts [6]. These lumps tend to increase in size and tenderness before your period and reduce after.
Breast cysts are fluid-filled sacs that are typically smooth and round. They may or may not feel tender. A milk retention cyst is called a galactocele.
Other benign breast lumps include:
- They’re solid lumps of glandular and fibrous tissue. They’re firm, rubbery, and easily moveable.
- These are wart-like lumps that appear close to your nipple.
- This lump is a result of the accumulation of pus. It may be tender to the touch.
- It presents as large bruising due to trauma [7] to your breast. It may feel tender.
- Fat necrosis. It is a painless lump that is a result of dead tissue caused by the trauma of your breast.
- It’s abnormal breast tissue enlargement that occurs in males.
- It’s a condition of your milk-producing glands. It may affect women who have a lot of fibrous tissue or cysts in their breasts.
