Pleurisy – Symptoms And Causes

  • Fever

Pleurisy may cause fever. This symptom is not as common [7] as the others and only happens in a limited number of cases. You may experience a low-grade fever along with inflammation in your lungs. This fever is typically a result of your body’s immune response to the pathogen responsible for your pleuritis. In some cases, the fever may be a bit more pronounced, such as when it is caused by bacterial pneumonia.

  • Chills

Chills describe a feeling of being cold without a clear reason. They often occur with a fever and may be part of your body’s response to a bacterial or viral infection. Like fever and cough, chills are not a usual symptom of pleurisy. The underlying cause of your pleuritis is typically what determines whether or not you experience chills.
