What is type 4 diabetes?
Diabetes is a very common condition, you’ve probably heard of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, these are different levels of diabetes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) [1], more than 34 million Americans have diabetes. According to a 2015 study with mice, it was shown that diabetes might be underdiagnosed with older adults who are not overweight or have obesity. Researchers have named this particular classification of diabetes type 4 diabetes.
Type 4 diabetes is different from type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is not an autoimmune condition and it is also not linked to weight. This potential diabetes may be linked to the aging process. More research is still being done on this condition, but scientists have already uncovered some connections.
