Congestive Heart Failure Life Expectancy

Prognosis based on ejection fraction

The amount of blood that leaves your heart with each contraction is gauged by something called the ejection fraction (EF) [3]. The EF of a healthy heart ranges from about 55 to 75 percent.

Some CHF patients have a lower EF. This indicates that compared to a heart that is healthy, the heart is pumping less blood to the rest of the body. According to studies, those with CHF who also have a diminished EF have a more difficult view of life than those with CHF who do not.

Although the exact survival rates vary throughout research, it has been established that EF affects prognosis in every single one of them. Your doctor will be able to determine how your ejection fraction can affect your prognosis.
