Herpes Simplex – Diagnosis and Treatment

Recurrent HSV Symptoms

Some people who live with HSV only have one episode, while others continue to have recurrent episodes every several months or so.

Since your body begins to produce antibodies, recurrent episodes often become less frequent with time. The symptoms also tend to reduce. For example, blisters that appear during a recurrent episode may completely heal within days rather than weeks. Your blisters may also be less noticeable or painful.

If you’ve experienced a few episodes, you may begin to notice early signs at the site of the infection. Example of such symptoms include:

  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Burning
  • Tingling

Anti-viral medication is recommended once you notice these symptoms, as it can help shorten the episodes.
