IBS vs. Celiac Disease: What You Need to Know

How to know if it’s IBS or celiac disease?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a digestive disorder that occurs when the inferior segment of the gastrointestinal tract, such as the small and large intestines starts to malfunction. Celiac disease is a digestive condition that occurs when the small intestine starts to malfunction. Although they are both digestive disorders, they are two entirely different diseases with different risk factors, treatments, causes, and triggers.

Although IBS and celiac disease both affect the digestive tract, they’re two completely different conditions with different causes, triggers, and treatments. However, they may have the same symptoms because they both affect the digestive disorder.
