Signs & Symptoms of Hepatitis A

Fatigue

Fatigue is a general symptom of most health conditions. Studies have shown that when the immune system is fighting an infection that remains persistent, it causes fatigue. Research has also shown that fatigue [3] in hepatitis A patients may be due to liver injury. This symptom is the most common one reported by patients suffering from liver diseases. Although the direct link between fatigue and liver damage is undetermined, it may be due to the changes in central neurotransmission. The inadequate signaling between the diseased liver and the brain may be the root cause of fatigue in these patients.

Loss of Appetite

Loss of appetite may be due to the unsettling of the stomach and is another common symptom [4] of this condition. A patient that is constantly nauseous and throwing up will not be able to keep anything down.
