Prevention

It is almost impossible to stop coming in contact with aspergillus, because it is everywhere. However, people that have had a transplant or are having chemotherapy should avoid places where there is a huge population of the mold, such as construction sites, compost piles and buildings that keep grain.
People with weakened immune system are advised to put on a face mask to avoid being exposed to aspergillus and several airborne diseases. Lack of response to treatment can be very fatal. It can lead to airway blockage, kidney damage, bleeding in the lungs and respiratory failure. It is possible to have aspergillosis again after treatment if you are exposed to the fungus.
