Erythrodermic Psoriasis – Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and More

Erythrodermic Psoriasis Diagnosis

By simply looking at you, a dermatologist may be able to determine if you have erythrodermic psoriasis. These are symptoms of this condition:

  • Scales
  • Swelling
  • Redness, or other discoloration such as purple, gray, or brown regions depending on your skin color

It’s possible that the discoloration will cover 75% or more of your body. In order to check for erythrodermic psoriasis-related chemicals and elevated white blood cell counts, your doctor can take a small sample of your skin.

A blood test might reveal:

  • A high level of white blood cells
  • A low level of red blood cells (anemia [6])
  • Abnormal electrolyte levels
  • Markers of inflammation such as C-reactive protein
