Erythrodermic Psoriasis Diagnosis

By simply looking at you, a dermatologist may be able to determine if you have erythrodermic psoriasis. These are symptoms of this condition:
- Scales
- Swelling
- Redness, or other discoloration such as purple, gray, or brown regions depending on your skin color
It’s possible that the discoloration will cover 75% or more of your body. In order to check for erythrodermic psoriasis-related chemicals and elevated white blood cell counts, your doctor can take a small sample of your skin.
A blood test might reveal:
- A high level of white blood cells
- A low level of red blood cells (anemia [6])
- Abnormal electrolyte levels
- Markers of inflammation such as C-reactive protein
