The psoriasis of the scalp is not communicable. Skin-to-skin contact cannot transmit scalp psoriasis to another individual.

Different scalp psoriasis symptoms exist. Mild scalp psoriasis symptoms may comprise only little, thin scales or flaking that appears like dandruff [2]. Moderate to severe scalp psoriasis symptoms include:

  • Raised, discolored plaques (red, brown, gray, or purple) with a dead skin cell-covered white or silvery surface.
  • Plaques covering all or most of your scalp.
  • Plaques on the skin near your ears, on your forehead, back of your neck, or along your hairline.
  • Dryness.
  • Flaking skin.
  • Itching.
  • Cracks (fissures).
  • Bleeding.
  • Pain or irritability.
