Neem
Neem oil is gotten from the seeds of the neem tree, a semi-evergreen tree originating in the East Indies. Neem has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Neem is considered a potent treatment for scabies in place of more traditional medical treatments because of its ability to kill mites.
This effect has been tested in a lab study [2], where it was found to be effective in killing scabies. In another study [3], shampoo made from extracts of neem seed cured ten dogs of their scabies infestations. Most of the dogs improved within a week, showing full recovery by the second. Only two dogs did not make full recovery by the end of the study, but their scabies burden had significantly reduced.
There are no credible human studies on the effectiveness of this remedy yet, so the implications of its use in human scabies treatment are not well understood.
