Dry Skin – Causes, Signs and Remedies

Limit Water Exposure and Avoid Some Foods

There is no doubt that water rids the skin of moisture, so it is best to keep all water-based activities at a minimum number of times per day. Keep bath and shower time to ten minutes or less and always take warm baths that aren’t too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures worsen dry skin, so lukewarm water is the best. Also, do not make a habit of bathing more than once per day.

Steering clear from foods like alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, and sugary foods may also relieve xeroderma. High-sodium foods and trans fat in baked goods can also dry out the skin tissues. These foods drain moisture from the dermis so switching them for fruits and vegetables can improve the look and feel of xerosis.
