Itchiness
The bite spots are often itchy. Itchiness may last up to two weeks, even after all other symptoms have subsided. As tempted as you may be to scratch, it is best to refrain from doing so because it can worsen the symptom. Frequent scratching can cause an infection at the site.
Common medications to relieve itching are Benadryl (for oral medication) and corticosteroids cream (for topical medication). Severe itching that hasn’t been alleviated after using medication may require medical attention. The feeding time for bedbugs is up to five minutes, during which some of their secretions get into the human’s blood.
