Hyperpigmentation on Buttocks: Causes, Treatments and More

Prevention

Hyperpigmentation is a normal condition that can be seen in almost all humans, however, there are certain preventive measures that should be followed to reduce the rate of hyperpigmentation, and these measures are:

  • Maintain good and proper personal hygiene.
  • Wear loose or properly fitting clothes in the buttocks area.
  • Eat proper and well-balanced diets [4]
  • Avoid the usage of fabric softeners.
  • Take a shower immediately after an exercise session in order to wash away sweat and bacteria.
  • Stay away from hair-removing lotions. These lotions sometimes possess chemicals that may be dangerous to the skin.
  • Make use of good sunscreen to avoid further hyperpigmentation.
  • Exfoliate and moisturize the skin regularly.
  • Drink a lot of water.
  • Minimize shaving. Shaving destroys the skin by causing scarring and darkening of the area.
  • Make use of mild, unscented, non-acidic soap when washing the thighs and buttocks area.
  • Avoid bad body lotions and creams.
