Ice Burn: Symptoms, Treatment, and More

Diagnosis for ice burns

If you suspect that you are getting an ice burn, immediately remove the source of the cold and take steps to gradually warm your skin up. If you notice it early, certain home remedies may help ease your situation.

However, you should immediately seek medical help if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Your skin is pale/white and very hard when you touch it.
  • If your skin stays numb and doesn’t burn or tingle as it warms up.
  • If your skin is pale and does not regain its normal complexion as it warms up.

These may signify severe tissue damage that requires treatment. You might also need medical attention if you develop blisters on a large portion of your skin. Your doctor will examine the affected area to determine the right treatment plan.
