Treatment for a Tattoo

There are several types of treatment for an infected tattoo, these treatments include:

  • Antihistamine medications: this helps to reduce symptoms of allergic reactions like redness, rashes and itching around the infected area. An Example of this medication is Benadryl. This drug should not overdose and it should be used after taking a meal.
  • Antibiotics: this is the most common type of treatment for an infected tattoo. There are different types of antibiotics used for the treatment depending on the severity of the infection.
  • Topical creams: These are fragrance-free, hypoallergenic creams that prevent the skin from drying out and help to treat tattoo infections.

Severe viral infections cannot be cured but can be managed by antiviral.
