Sores

The mites in the skin trigger a lot of uncomfortable skin reactions, but they do not directly cause sores to develop on the skin. Often, people with scabies who develop sores on the skin do so because they have scratched the skin too much in response to the severe itching caused by the mites.
These sores may pose a risk of complications [8] for people with scabies. Open wounds on the skin may be infected with the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. This causes a secondary infection known as impetigo. This bacterial infection is more common in children.
