Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive condition in which stomach acid, bile, or undigested food backflows into the esophagus, irritating the lining.
Acid reflux is used to describe this early stage of this condition. If you experience reflux more than twice in seven days, it indicates a more serious condition, known as GERD.
There are common symptoms of this condition that make it easy to self-diagnose; however, it is best to make a doctor’s appointment for a medical diagnosis.
This condition is usually a sign of an underlying illness that triggers acid to backflow.
