Foods low in sodium
Vegetables and fruits
Fruits and vegetables are low in sodium. Some of them include:
- Fresh vegetables like carrots, spinach, and broccoli.
- Fresh fruits such as oranges, watermelons, grapes, bananas, and apples.
- Vegetable juice that is low sodium.
- Canned, packaged, or frozen dried fruits with no extra sugar. Make sure you rinse canned vegetables to get some of the sodium off them.
- Low sodium canned vegetables or with no salt added.
Seasonings
Instead of salt, use the following seasonings to add flavor to your food.
- Ginger.
- Garlic, peppers, and onions.
- Spices and herbs.
- Salt-free seasoning mix.
- Lime and/or lemon juice.
