Does Medicare Cover Dermatology?

Does Medicare Advantage Cover Dermatology?

Unlike Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage [6] covers for clinically important and routine dermatology services as well as the cost of medications. You can ask your insurer to explain how it works. You also have to make sure that the routine dermatology service you want to undergo is covered by your Medicare Advantage plan.

Does Medicare Cover Skin Examination?

Original Medicare does not cover for a full body skin check except it is related to the diagnosis or treatment of a disease. In people who do not show symptoms for a particular disease or skin cancer, Medicare will not cover for any full body skin examination.

If patients, however, notice a change in their skin texture or colour or the appearance of a mole, Medicare will cover the cost of visit to the dermatologist.
