Interaction with other drugs

Rybelsus is a drug that is known to slow down digestion. It slows down gastric emptying. Because of this, it is not advisable to take rybelsus with other drugs at the same time. You should take it at least 30 minutes before you take any other medication.
Rybelsus needs to be used with other diabetic drugs to get a better result. However, some drugs shouldn’t be used with rybelsus as their interaction can become fatal. They include:
- Insulin: If you take rybelsus with any form of insulin, you might increase the risk of developing hypoglycemia. You must discuss with your doctor if you are on insulin before you start taking rybelsus.
- Sulfonylurea [5] drugs: Taking rybelsus together with medications in the sulfonylurea class like glimepiride [6] can also increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
You must talk to your doctor about any medication you are previously on, before taking rybelsus.
Rybelsus does not interact with alcohol. But, before using the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to take alcohol whilst using it. Do not take them together. As explained earlier, you should take the drug 30 minutes before you ingest any other thing.
