Emma May, an employee at EDP UK, will be taking part in the ETU Sprint Distance Duathlon European Championships.
Following her selection to the Great Britain team, EDP will be sponsoring Emma contributing to her expenses.
The event will be taking place on the island of Ibiza, in the old Ibiza Town on the 20th of October 2018. The Duathlon will showcase the scenic Ibiza Town environment, being overlooked by the breath-taking Castell de Eivissa and running past the beautiful Ibiza Harbours and sea front.
EDP, a health and safety consultancy based in St Helens, will be cheering Emma on back on home turf, they strongly believe that she's going to do extremely well and are supporting her as she makes her international competitive debut.
“This is an excellent opportunity for me as an athlete, to represent Great Britain, and I can’t thank EDP enough for sponsoring me and helping to cover my costs. I hope to do the whole team back at home proud!”
Emma will represent Great Britain in the 25-29 age group. Competing in a Duathlon, this consists of two disciplines over three stages; starting with a run (5km), she will then transition to cycling (20km), then she will finish off again on a run (2.5km). After participating in qualification events, Emma has qualified for one out of only 20 places for her age group.
