How Can I Prevent A Blood Clot?

A blood clot is when blood changes from its liquid state to a gel-like or semisolid state. Clotting is a normal process that the body goes through in response to an injury, to prevent excess bleeding and health complications. When blood clumps inside the vein and not as a response to cuts or injuries, it does not dissolve on its own. You need to take active steps to ensure that it dissolves, as clotting over a long period can become life-threatening.

You may experience no symptoms or health complications if the clot does not move, but a moving clot can be dangerous. If it travels to vital organs like the heart and lungs, it can hinder blood flow, causing a medical emergency or death.

Blood clots can come in various forms, such as; [1]

Arterial Clot (AC)

This type of blood clot is found in the artery. Unlike other types of clots that may not show signs, AC causes immediate symptoms. You must visit your doctor immediately you start to feel severe pain or paralysis in any part of the body. These are common signs of AC and if left untreated, it can lead to heart attack or stroke.
