Appendicitis – Types, Causes and Treatments

Acute Appendicitis

Acute appendicitis is a serious and sudden case of appendicitis. It is commonly seen in children and young adults between the ages 10 and 30 years old. It is more common in men than in women. Pain usually develops and worsens quickly after 24 hours since the first time it occurred. It requires urgent medical attention. If it is not treated on time, it can cause your appendix to rupture. This can be severe and lead to death.

Acute appendicitis is more common than chronic appendicitis. Studies show that it occurs in about 7-9% of all Americans once in their lifetime.
