Bladder and Bowel Perforation

Women who experience bladder and bowel perforation after mesh surgery are susceptible to severe infections. Perforation occurs when a surgical tool injures an organ. According to research, bladder perforation is the most common complication in tissues. It happens when the surgeon cuts the bladder during mesh placement. It can also occur when the ends of a mesh puncture the bladder.

Bowel perforations are more dangerous and rare. They can result in the release of bacteria from the bowel and severe infections. According to the FDA, six out of nine bowel perforations can lead to death.
