Overactive Bladder – Symptoms and Causes

Bladder Scan

Your doctor would need to know the amount of urine in your bladder. This test uses an ultrasound to measure the amount of urine left in your bladder after you urinate.

Urodynamic Testing

This assortment of tests can assess the bladder’s ability to hold and store urine.

Cystoscopy

This test is done while you are sedated. During this test, your doctor inserts a lighted scope into your bladder for readings of your condition. A cystoscopy helps your doctor determine if your symptoms are caused by any abnormalities within your bladder, such as bladder stones or tumors. Biopsies can be taken as well.

More than one test is usually done to confirm the status. Your doctor or urologist may use additional tests to help rule out or confirm an overactive bladder diagnosis. These tests can only be done by a professional health care provider. Read more about each of these tests and what you need to do to complete them.
