10 Effective Treatments for a Rotator Cuff Injury

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

TENS is an effective treatment procedure for rotator cuff injury. It uses electrodes to transfer pulsed electric current to the compromised rotator cuff. It helps you imagine the sensation of needles and pins touching your skin. However, TENS stimulates nerve endings, therefore, your brain does not perceive or recognize the pain. It also helps release endorphins [6], a pain-relieving chemical but fails to quell swelling and inflammation.

Tendon Transfer

Tendon transfer is a procedure that involves removing tendon from an extra muscle, and seeing it back into the tendon of the affected muscle. You may not need a general anesthesia to undergo this procedure. Tendon transfer is mostly performed if you have a muscle injury, neuromuscular disorder, or a birth defect.
