Bone Spurs in the Neck – Symptoms, Causes, Risk Factors and Treatments

Cervical Spondylitis and Cervical (Neck) Stenosis

Arthritis of the Neck, also known as cervical spondylitis, is another prevalent cause of bone spurs in the neck. A study done by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons says that about 85 percent of an adult above the age of 60 will develop this condition. And bone spurs can develop as a result of wear and tear.

Neck bone spurs may also arise in cases of cervical (Neck) stenosis. Also, the American College of Rheumatology established that other common causes of neck pain, in general, include conditions that involve the spine, such as herniated disc or spinal stenosis. These conditions may create bone spurs, although this type of complication is not as common in your neck.
