When to See a Doctor

Most elbow pain usually gets better after a few days. You can talk to your doctor if your pain is recurring or does not get better over time. Your doctor may also give you an examination, provide a diagnosis, and recommend treatment plans for you.
Treatments usually include cortisone or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections [3] or physical therapy. Less common cases will need a surgical procedure, known as open medial epicondylar procedure. This usually involves removing damaged tissues from the elbow.
It is important to see a doctor if you have symptoms more severe than general pain and stiffness. These symptoms usually include:
- Numbness [4]
- Weakness
- Swelling
- Tingling
- Fever [5]
- Redness [6]
- Immobility of the arm
- Deformity
