Added Hormones

It is important to note that stopping the production of hormones may lead to menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes. Some doctors recommend “add back” drugs, which are low doses of hormones to compensate for the effect without disrupting the function of GnRH. [1]
GnRH agonists are available in nasal spray, pill, and injection forms. They are usually used for a short period of time. They play a significant role in reducing the size of a fibroid before surgery. Note that fibroids tend to grow back after surgery.
Hormonal Medications
Hormonal contraceptives are common methods for treating uterine fibroid symptoms. They are not effective in reducing the size of uterine fibroids, but they control periods or reduce heavy bleeding.
Studies show that danazol, a synthetic drug that works like testosterone, can reduce fibroids and relieve symptoms. Studies show that hormonal drugs may lead to weight gain, [2] acne, [3] and unwanted hair.
