Ultrasound-Guided Radiofrequency Ablation

Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation is another type of ablation that uses heat to destroy fibroid tissues. It involves the direct use of thermal conduction, electromagnetic energy, or ultrasound.
It would help to note radiofrequency ablation used for treating fibroids are not invasive. They are safe and effective outpatient procedures that help treat fibroid symptoms. RFAs can be divided into two types: laparoscopic (Acessa) and transcervical (Sonata). Both types involve insertion of the ablation instrument into the fibroids resulting in the destruction of fibroid tissues.
After the procedure, the size of the fibroids may get smaller after some weeks or months. You may also get pregnant after an ultrasound-guided RFA. However, doctors do not recommend this procedure for people who still want to get pregnant.
