Targeted therapy

The main treatment is likely targeted therapy. This will include approved medications for EGFR-positive lung adenocarcinoma such as:
- afatinib (Gilotrif)
- dacomitinib (Vizimpro)
- erlotinib (Tarceva)
- gefitinib (Iressa)
- osimertinib (Tagrisso)
These are all oral medications called tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). They work by blocking the activity of the EGFR protein.
A new drug on the market called amivantamab-vmjw (Rybrevant) is a weekly infusion that specifically targets the EGF and MET receptors. This medication was approved in 2021 by the FDA.
