Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

In order to detect a cancerous cell in the mammary gland. Firstly, visit the doctor for proper physical examination of the symptoms and after which the individual’s medical history is reviewed. In order to know what is really causing the symptoms, some tests are done. Some of these diagnostic test include:

  • Ultrasound: this is the usage of sound waves in order to see the clear picture of the tissues contained in the breast. This scan helps the doctor determine if it is a cyst or a tumor.
  • Mammogram: this is very common for checking the part of the breast below the surface area. It helps to see if there is any atypical area on the breast.
  • Biopsy: this is like a confirmation test after ultrasound and mammogram is done. A part of the suspected area is taken out and taken to the laboratory. This biopsy helps to confirm the presence of cancerous cells and also to know what type it is.
