There are different available tests and scans used to check for lumps in the breast of children. These tests are:
- Physical exam: this is done by a medical doctor and it involves checking the physical state of the mammary gland, if there is any abnormality that may be a sign of cancer.
- MRI (magnetic resonance imaging):this is a process to check for tumors in the breast or to check the size of the present tumor.
- Biopsy: this involves the doctor taking out a small part of the affected breast tissue and taking it into the lab to check for the presenceof cancer cells.
- PET scan: it is known as positron emission tomography[4]. It is performed by making use of a radioactive substance called tracer to check for the spread of cancer cells.
