In other to live a life without breast cancer as one grows older, there are certain tips to follow:

  • Reduce alcohol: the more alcohol, the more the risk of breast cancer. Therefore, limit the intake of alcohol to not more than one daily or even better, avoid it completely:
  • Maintain health weight: if you are obese, talk to your doctor on recommendations n how to lose weight based on your health history. If you already have a good weight, strive to maintain it because obesity is a risk factor of breast cancer.
  • Proper diet: try to follow a Mediterranean diet with lots of nuts, olive oil, vegetables, fruits and fish, thereby reducing the risk of this condition.
  • Regular exercise: firstly, ask your medical adviser if it is okay to exercise or to start slowly. Try to exercise for at least 20-30 minutes for 3-5 days of the week.
  • Breast cancer screening: talk to your doctor for the type of screenings and tests that will work best for you before any screening or mammograms is done.
  • Self- exam: regular inspection of thebreast allows women to get familiar with their mammary gland. This makes it easy to notice any abnormality present in the breast. This is a very effective way of keeping this illness at bay.
