Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy is used to treat tumors fueled by hormones in the body like estrogen and progesterone. These types of cancers are called hormone-receptor positive cells.
You will usually get hormone therapy after surgery, but it may also be administered before surgery to reduce a large tumor. It involves the use of drugs to reduce or halt the activity of the hormones involved in the cancer growth. [7] It is only used to treat special breast cancers that are sensitive to hormones.
You may need hormone therapy for five or more years following surgery. It may also be used as the only treatment if your health condition prevents you from taking other treatment types.
