Cervical Cancer: Symptoms and Signs

Vaginal bleeding

Cervical cancer usually causes vaginal bleeding [5] in affected patients. This is different from the blood flow associated with menstruation. Bleeding may occur after sex, after douching, between menstrual cycles, and even during menstrual cycles. Bleeding during menstrual cycles often makes the cycles heavier and last much longer than they typically should. Bleeding after menopause is a strong indicator that a person might have cervical cancer since menstruation should have seized by this time.

The kind of bleeding that occurs with cervical cancer is not necessarily voluminous. Sometimes it is only noticeable as spots on the underwear.
