Cervical Cancer: Symptoms and Signs

Unusual vaginal discharge

Discharges from the vagina are perfectly normal. In most healthy people, this discharge is clear or white. People with cervical cancer sometimes have discharges that deviate from what is normal.

Vaginal discharge in people with cervical cancer may be pink or watery [7]. Sometimes these discharges are tinged with blood and may happen between menstrual cycles or after menopause. The vaginal discharge usually also has a very foul odor.

It is important for women to pay attention to their vaginal and sexual health. If there are any changes in the color or smell of your vaginal discharge, you should speak to a doctor. This is often indicative of underlying health problems, even if you have recently gotten a Pap smear with normal results. Cervical cancer is not the only condition that causes an abnormal vaginal discharge.
