Common Stages of Lung Cancer

Stage 0 NSCLC

Doctors may observe abnormal cells in the lining of your air passages. These cells may become cancerous and disrupt the activities of normal tissues nearby. At this stage, the cancer has not spread to other parts of the body.

Stage 0 NSCLC can be further grouped into:

  • Adenocarcinoma in situ: This occurs when abnormal cells are seen in glandular tissue lining the lungs
  • Squamous cell carcinoma in situ: A situation where abnormal cells are detected in the tissues that line the respiratory organs. These cells may become cancerous and affect other tissues.
