Common Stages of Lung Cancer

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Stages

NSCLC cancer can be grouped by these six stages, depending on when it’s diagnosed – Occult stage, or hidden stage, Stage 0, Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4.

Occult-Stage NSCLC

At this stage the cancer cannot be diagnosed by both imaging and bronchoscopy. Therefore, doctors are unable to know its exact location. In some cases, sputum (mucus from the lungs) or bronchial washings (a sample of cells from inside the airways) are used to detect the presence of cancer cells. At this stage, the cancer has not spread to other organs or tissues of the body.
