Common Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids

Constipation

Fibroids in the uterus can cause constipation. This is because the uterus lies in front of the distal end of the colon that controls the bowel movement. When the tumor grows to the extent of the back of the uterus, it can compress the colon from outside, which can lead to constipation. Constipation is a condition that has a wide range of causes, so one may not think of uterine fibroids as the cause.

Other symptoms of uterine fibroids include; increased menstrual cramping, menstruation that lasts longer than usual, leg pain, difficulty emptying the bladder, and chronic vaginal discharge.
