Common Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids

Pain in the pelvic region, lower back, and during sexual intercourse

Pain in the lower back is another symptom of uterine fibroids. The fibroids could cause women to feel discomfort, heaviness, or pressure in the pelvic region, especially if the fibroids are large. The feeling is more of a discomfort rather than a pain, and the enlarged uterus makes it hard for one to move freely, lie face down, bend over, take certain positions or perform an exercise.

The term used for recurring pain during intercourse is Dyspareunia [5]. Pain during sex as a symptom of uterine fibroids occurs when the tumor grows in the cervix region. Pressure placed on the fibroids during sexual intercourse, either due to the position is taken or friction can cause discomfort and pain. If you notice that you feel pain during sex, you should visit your doctor to know what it might cause.
