Other risk factors

Other factors that increase your chances of getting cervical cancer include:
- Having a weak immune system: The work of the immune system is to fight infections and respond to cancer cells. A weak immune system makes it easier for cervical cancer to attack you. This is usually a result of living with HIV, taking immunosuppressive drugs, receiving an organ transplant, and undergoing certain cancer treatment.
- Smoking: The chemical in tobacco is what causes cancer. According to the American Cancer Society women who smoke are more likely to get cervical cancer.
- Sexual history: Certain factors relating to your sexual history can increase the risk of exposure to HPV. These include having many sexual partners and having a partner with a high risk of HPV infection.
- Family history: You are at a higher risk of getting cervical cancer if other females in your family have had it before.
- Eating a diet with low nutrient
- Having chlamydia
- Having multiple pregnancies
- Using oral contraceptives for a long time
