Chest pain

Some people might experience discomfort or pain in the middle area of their chest. In some cases, the discomfort may be caused by burning in the chest or pressure. Chest pains are not always caused by oesophagal cancer. They can also be caused by other conditions such as heartburn.
Chest pain is not a common signal of oesophagal cancer. So, it is imperative to contact your healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis. You may experience pain when swallowing if your cancer is big enough to hinder the movement of food through the oesophagus. Painful swallowing is clinically referred to as odynophagia [4]. You will feel the pain after swallowing, as the food reaches the tumour and tries to pass through.
