Pelvic floor therapy

Pelvic surgery, surgical menopause [7], radiation, and more can have a great effect on pelvic floor muscles, causing pelvic floor dysfunction.
Pelvic floor dysfunction can be the major cause of several issues associated with sexual activity such as painful sex. A pelvic floor therapist is needed to:
- Strengthen the pelvic floor
- Address imbalance
- Relax tense muscles
A small study was done in 2018 on 46 women with ovarian cancer, it revealed that daily sessions that included pelvic floor awareness and relaxation training as well as other therapies, helped enhance sexual function.
The participants learned about the muscles of the pelvic floor. Mindfulness-based strategies for muscles relaxation were also a part of the workshop.
Research has shown that working on the pelvic floor muscle may help enhance sexual function in women that have been diagnosed with gynecological cancer.
